Abstract

Noam Chomsky introduced the world
to the most influential of all modern linguistic
theories. That was in 1957 in his book
"Syntact Structure". The theory without
doubt was revolutionary but as with any
revolution there should be some people who
oppose and stand against and that what
actually happened to the Trans formational
Generative theory (TG). TG, since 1957, has
been modifying and even moving a way from
the American linguists.
TG provides both trans formational
and generative aspects. The trans
formational aspect is more fundamental and
perhaps revolutionary.
The theory has not arrived at an end yet.
And the linguists are looking forward to
seeing how and when TG will rest eventually.
