AbstractOne of the Most important aims of the social studies methods in any educational & pedagogical environment is the striving to achieve peace in that society & environment , the peace that mentioned in the research is not limited on the global peace only ( Although this kind of peace is a basic kind today especially under the global openness which the modern societies live in ) but it includes the individual’s psychological , social & economic peace , and as a summary of the above this study strives to identify the importance of teaching the issues of the global peace in the secondary level methods and the extend of a achieving the aims of peace and developing the citizen’s awareness for serving the general benefit .
-The Aim of The study :
It aims to the extent of interest of the secondary level’s teachers of social materials .
-The Limits of The Study :
It is limited to the lesson of the social materials ( History ) for the secondary level in the education directorate of Baghdad Al-Karkh the second term for the years 2009 – 2010 .
The second chapter is limited only to the previous studies and contains only three foreign studies because it is according to researcher’s knowledge , she didn’t find any Arabic study that deals with this problem , and chapter three included the sample , the research tool and the statistical means , so the research sample has covered 1115 teachers that a precession has been shown to them to identify their opinions about the importance of teaching the peace issues within the content of the social studies methods.
Chapter four included the results and their explanation , suggestions & recommendations .
Where , after briefing table ( 3 ) , the results referred to that the vast majority of sociology teachers , adding the global peace issues makes the Arabic students aware of problems that he could encounter .
The most important suggestion that the researcher would like to offer according to the research results is :
1- The need of adding subjects related to the peace issues within the content of the social studies methods especially within the history for the secondary level .
And the most important recommendation for this research is :
1- The peace issues and their teaching should start from an early stage of child’s school age.
